On Austvågøy there is a wealth of short and long walks, a long and nice walk runs from Sand Box Svolvaer
The trip can also be taken from town, but one starts from Sandsletta / Haugen Farm, you get a smoother slope. Start where the road takes off from Outer As, ca. 1 km east of Sandsletta.
By Haugen farm taking a clear path to the left and followed through a spruce forest fields and further up on Damheia.
The tree line passes approximately Half an hour before coming up to Isvatnet (391 m). On the left side of Isvatnet projecting Rundfjellet, with its 804 m. It is now in a terrain more reminiscent of Saltfjellet than the jagged Lofoten mountains. The western side of Isvatnet cross the river and proceeds up a ridge in direction Botnsvatnet (clear path).
On Botnsvatnet (495 m), located often ice during the summer, the water keeps a very low temperature, and it is almost teal color.
From here begins the descent to Svolvaer Marka. Cross the river at the end of Botnsvatnet, go straight down approximately 100 m before slanting of slope high Svartvatnet. From cairned path down towards Sætra, head of Svolvaer lake. From the power station follow stood on the west side of the water, over the suspension bridge and out at camp kola in Svolvaer. Svolvaer Marka is very swampy.
Relatively demanding tour, 5-6 hours, partially cairned / trail.
